Texans left tackle Brown about to tackle his bride in CA

In 2013 the Houston Texans will have to figure out how to hold on to left tackle Duane Brown in the same year that they could be signing quarterback Matt Schaub, currently entering the final year of his contract, to another big deal.

The 26-year-old is entering the last year of his rookie contract. What the Texans do to retain other key players like Schaub and defensive end Connor Barwin – who had a breakout season in 2012 with 11.5 tackles and is a priority to resign on defense –may affect whether he is back in a Texans’ uniform, or with another team like Chicago. No doubt the Bears and several other squads looking to shore up their offensive protection would be willing to match or exceed the expected $9.3 million franchise tender for an offensive lineman in 2013, should Brown not be given the tag by the Texans.

Those are problems that can wait though, and probably the last thing on the big man’s mind today. That’s because he is punctuating the finest year for his young franchise, concluding with its first playoff berth, with an even bigger achievement – marriage.

At Santa Susana, California’s Hummingbird Nest Ranch, Brown and fiancé Devon Anjelica, better known as Devi Dev to the fans of Shade 45’s “Sway in the morning,” radio show on Sirius Satellite Radio’s Shade 45 station, will be married at 6 p.m. (PDT) today in front of a select group of family, friends, celebrities and Texan teammates.

Out of respect for the lovely couple I won’t provide any more details, but I invite Texan fans (and foes) to wish No. 76 and his beautiful bride the best.
